Back in the Studio
The 1920's have always been an influential music period to me because it represents a bridge between Western Classical Music influence joining with early jazz styles of Rag Time. I have chosen 16 works, that were originally recorded on Wax Cylinder, from my archives. The recordings are now considered lost and very few had manuscripts ever published for further generations to play. We are now entering our studio session phase to record the transcriptions that I have created of these recordings. This is a restoration project that has taken me a considerable period of time but will give back a rich history of saxophone music from almost 100 years ago. I will keep you posted when the published scores, tracks and album material become available. DB 3-8-12

East Coast Recital a Huge Success
Thank you to everyone that attended the recital at Elizabethtown College. It was a great pleasure to perform and work with everyone to make the event a major success over the weekend. A special thanks to Dr. Justin Badgerow who provided all his artistic talents and musical inspiration during a wonderful set of rehearsals and performance. The snow followed me back to Austin covering the city for 24 hours. It was beautiful.
Texas Jazz Festival Thank You and Prayer
Thank you to everyone that joined Tiburon for a wonderful concert. It was filled with lots of energy and great music. My deepest thoughts and prayers go to Tony Campise who suffered a major head injury from a fall that Friday night at our hotel. He is currently in Austin after intense brain surgery and is recovering to the best of his ability. Please send your prayers to this strong man and my God bless him with the opportunity to play his horn again.
